The Small is the 3-LED model powered by two AA batteries. The compartment opens at the tail cap.

  1. 01

    Switch off and open

    Hold the body firmly and turn the tail cap anti-clockwise. Keep the lanyard clear of the threads.

  2. 02

    Remove the old pair

    Slide both AA batteries out. Wipe away dust or moisture; do not scrape the metal contacts.

  3. 03

    Fit two matching AA batteries

    Use two fresh batteries of the same brand and type. Follow the + / − marks inside the body.

  4. 04

    Close and test

    Turn the cap clockwise until snug, then press the rear button once. If it stays dark, reopen and check the + / − markings.

This rubber-coated everyday torch uses AA batteries. Follow the quantity and + / − markings inside its own battery carrier.

  1. 01

    Read the carrier first

    Open the battery end and check the diagram inside before buying or fitting batteries. Use these markings for both the number of batteries and their direction.

  2. 02

    Fit one matched set

    Use a complete set of fresh AA batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types.

  3. 03

    Seat the cap squarely

    Start the cap gently so the threads do not cross, then tighten until the body closes without a gap.

  4. 04

    Press once to test

    Use the single button for on / off. If the beam flickers, re-seat the batteries and check that the cap is fully home.

The Large is the longest rubber-bodied torch and uses three D batteries. Support the body on a flat surface while changing them.

  1. 01

    Lay the torch flat

    Switch off and use a stable, dry surface. Turn the end cap anti-clockwise while supporting the body.

  2. 02

    Remove all three batteries

    Slide the D batteries out one at a time. Inspect the long compartment and spring before reloading.

  3. 03

    Fit three matching D batteries

    Follow every + / − mark. The middle battery is easy to reverse, so check all three + / − markings before closing.

  4. 04

    Close without forcing

    Engage the threads squarely, tighten clockwise until snug, then press the push button to test the selected 3- or 7-LED head.

The 3-LED and 7-LED Medium torches are set up in the same way. Both use two D batteries.

  1. 01

    Open the base

    Switch off, place the torch on a dry surface and turn the end cap anti-clockwise.

  2. 02

    Remove both D batteries

    Tip the body gently and catch the batteries. Check the compartment for leakage, corrosion or damp.

  3. 03

    Load two fresh D batteries

    Follow the + / − markings and keep both batteries the same brand, type and age. If a battery is not sitting flat, stop and check its direction before closing the cap.

  4. 04

    Seal and test

    Turn the cap clockwise until secure. Press the button and check that every LED in the head illuminates.

  1. 01

    Fit one power source

    Unscrew the body and fit the supplied Li-ion battery to the + / − markings. Use the AAA adaptor only as an alternative power source—never alongside the Li-ion battery.

  2. 02

    Charge before the first trip

    Connect the supplied USB-A to USB-C cable. Leave the torch on a dry surface until the charge indicator shows it is complete.

  3. 03

    Choose spot or flood

    Use the main switch to cycle the white-light modes. Adjust the head to move from a wide flood for nearby work to a focused spot for distance.

  4. 04

    Use the side light deliberately

    Cycle to the ambient side light for a tent or work area, red for preserving night vision, and strobe only for emergency signalling.

  5. 05

    Use the powerbank

    Connect a compatible phone cable to the output port. Replace the port cover after use to protect it from grit and moisture.

This 110mm model takes three AAA batteries and has an adjustable beam. Before first use, remove the plastic transport tab if one is fitted.

    Unscrew the tail cap

    Turn the base anti-clockwise. On first use, check for a clear disc or paper strip between the batteries and the contact.

  2. 02

    Remove any plastic transport tab

    Pull it out completely before switching on. The tab prevents accidental activation in transit and is not refitted.

  3. 03

    Check all three batteries

    Match the supplied AAA batteries to the + / − diagram. When they run down, replace all three together.

  4. 04

    Switch on and adjust the beam

    Tighten the cap and press the button. Move the focus head between a broad flood and a narrow spot beam.

    Read the device marking

    Look for C, R14 or the matching battery silhouette inside the compartment.

  2. 02

    Check every + / − marking

    Insert the positive button and flat negative end exactly as shown by the device diagram.

  3. 03

    Replace the complete set

    Do not combine partly used batteries with new ones, or mix Greencell batteries with a different chemistry.

  4. 04

    Store unopened batteries correctly

    Keep the pack cool and dry, away from loose metal objects and out of reach of children.

  5. 05

    Recycle after use

    Remove exhausted batteries promptly and take them to a battery collection point; never put them in a fire.

    Sort the two matched sets

    Prepare two D batteries for the Medium and three D batteries for the Large. Keep the two-battery and three-battery sets separate.

  2. 02

    Load and close separately

    Follow the + / − markings inside each body and close each tail cap squarely.

  3. 03

    Check all seven LEDs

    Switch on each torch and look directly at the head only while it is off. If one LED is dark, switch off and re-seat the cap and batteries.

  4. 04

    Store for the intended job

    Keep the Medium as the easier carry; reserve the Large for the jobs where the longer battery stack is useful.

    Charge through USB-C

    Open the port cover and connect a USB-C cable. Charge on a dry, non-flammable surface, then close the cover.

  2. 02

    Cycle the light modes

    Press the power button repeatedly to move through the available COB settings; stop on the lowest level that suits the task.

  3. 03

    Clip it safely

    Use the carabiner on a belt, bag or tent loop. Make sure the clip closes fully and does not press the power button.

  4. 04

    Set the tripod

    On the tripod version, open the legs on a level surface and seat the light firmly before aiming it.

  5. 05

    Use tools unlit

    Switch the lamp off before using the bottle opener or window-breaker point so the lens stays away from the work.

    Place or hold it

    Grip the edge, or attach the magnetic back to a clean steel surface such as a fridge, toolbox or bonnet.

  2. 02

    Press continuously

    Hold the button for light. The switch does not latch; releasing it turns the dual LEDs off.

  3. 03

    Store it flat

    Keep it dry and away from keys or objects that could hold the button down inside a bag.

  4. 04

    Retire the whole light

    The fitted CR2016 batteries are not replaceable. Do not split or pry open the sealed body when they are exhausted.

    Identify by body length

    The Medium is the shorter RT5149. The Large RT5150 has the longer battery tube and larger head.

  2. 02

    Count before loading

    Set out two D batteries for the Medium and three D batteries for the Large. Keep each matched set together.

  3. 03

    Check both battery directions

    Load each torch to its own internal marks and check the middle batteries before closing.

  4. 04

    Test and label storage

    Press both buttons, then store the Large for long-run jobs and the Medium where a lighter all-rounder is easier to grab.

    Connect the supplied cable with the lamp switched off. Disconnect it before clipping the lamp to clothing.

    Clip onto a firm edge

    Push the clip fully over a cap brim, strap, pocket or book cover so the light cannot twist free.

  3. 03

    Aim before selecting a mode

    Point the COB panel away from faces, then press the control to cycle through its lighting settings.

  4. 04

    Use the lowest useful mode

    A lower mode is better for reading and close tasks; brighter settings suit walking or work areas.

  5. 05

    Remove before washing

    Unclip the light from clothing, caps or bags before washing or soaking them.

    Separate the two sizes

    The shorter, narrower torch is the Small RT5148; the thicker body is the Medium RT5149.

    Load the Small

    Open its tail cap and fit two matching AA batteries to the + / − markings.

    Open the larger cap and fit two matching D batteries. Do not transfer AA batteries or improvised spacers into this body.

  4. 04

    Test both buttons

    Close each cap snugly and test each torch independently before splitting them between car and home.

    Choose the light source

    Use the control to select the broad inspection panel or the end flashlight for a narrow gap.

    Set the angle

    Fold the head through the needed angle; stop at its natural positions rather than forcing the hinge.

  4. 04

    Mount hands-free

    Place the magnetic base on clean steel or use the hanging hook. Tug gently to confirm it is secure before releasing.
