Torch Instructions
General Instructions:
Some Vellcom Torches already come with batteries installed.
How to replace the batteries in your Vellcom Torch:
Keep your Vellcom torch performing at it's best by replacing it's batteries correctly and safely. These general instructions apply to most Vellcom™ handheld torches. Always refer to your specific product packaging or label for battery type if unsure.
What you'll need:
- New batteries of the correct type and quantity (e.g. AA, AAA, C, or D – check your torch)
- Clean, dry hands
- A flat, stable surface

- Locate the battery cap: This is usually at the bottom (tail-cap) of the torch, though some pen-style torches open from the middle or front.
- Unscrew the cap: Grip the end of the torch firmly and twist it counter-clockwise.
- Remove the isolator: Pull out the plastic or paper tab that is tucked between the battery and the metal contact.
- Re-tighten: Screw the cap back on tightly, and click the power button to test the light.
Step-by-Step Battery Replacement
1. Switch Off the Torch
- Ensure the torch is turned off before opening the battery compartment.
- Allow the torch to cool if it has been in use.
2. Open the Battery Compartment
Most Vellcom™ torches are opened in one of the following ways:
- End cap (base) opening – twist the base of the torch anti‑clockwise to loosen.
- Lens Cap (Top) opening – twist the top anti-clockwise.
Continue turning until the compartment opens fully.
If the cap feels tight, apply steady pressure and avoid forcing it.
3. Replace Old Batteries
- Carefully slide out all used batteries.
- Check the compartment for dust, moisture, or corrosion and wipe clean if necessary.
Dispose of used batteries responsibly according to local regulations.
4. Insert New Batteries
Insert the new batteries following the polarity s
ymbols (+ / −)
(Generally Flat side towards the spring)
Ensure all batteries are aligned correctly and seated firmly.
Incorrect battery orientation may prevent the tor
ch from working.
5. Close the Battery Compartment
- Refit the end cap or body section.
- Twist clockwise until it is secure and snug.
A properly closed compartment helps maintain performance and weather resistance.
6. Test the Torch
- Turn the torch on to confirm it is operating normally.
- If the torch does not illuminate, recheck battery orientation and compartment closure.
Battery Safety and Care Tips
- Do not mix old and new batteries.
- Do not mix different battery brands or types.
- Remove batteries if the torch will not be used for long periods.
- Store batteries in a cool, dry place.
- Keep batteries away from children.
